Grover Cleveland back in his day was considered a Liberal, as was Thomas Jefferson... two of my favorite Presidents, and two of my favorite economists, Fredriech Augustus Hayek and Ludwig von Mises also considered themselves "classical liberals"... if they ran for public office today they would be hard line conservatives or libertarians.... but they most certainly would be labelled kooky, wacko, quixotic, extremist dark horses who basically would never be elected into any high office if they ran these days. The word Liberal has been so distorted by those who go by the word in today's world and so-called "conservative" (another term widely distorted) mouth peices like Rush Limbaugh. Classical Liberalism, Classical Conservatism, or Libertarianism is where it's at.

But, in today's terms, yes you are absolutely right. Liberalism is indeed a mental disorder.
