The Socialist Case for Ron Paul

Although I am a Ron Paul supporter, I am also a member of a Christian Socialist party in the Netherlands. In many cases I do not agree with Paul's political philosophy.


But I would still urge all socialists, communists and people of all political persuasions to support Ron Paul when he runs for President.


Unless your political philosophy requires the invading of other nations and is generally totalitarian, you will win, and not only regarding the war with Iraq. Let me explain.


Ron Paul is running for a federal position and is committed to a small federal government. A small federal government will consume fewer taxes and impose fewer burdens on the individual states.


This will leave the people of the states more free to implement the type of government that they want.
I will give three examples, socialized healthcare, moral laws and gun control. Ron Paul is not an advocate of these things, but his presidency will help the groups that advocate these things.


Since the federal government will take in less tax, states can afford to raise taxes as high as they see fit and use it to implement socialized healthcare. Now you do not need to convince the entire United States that socialized healthcare is better, but you only need to convince the people of your state, a much simpler task.


Your state can have its own healthcare plan and you could withdraw from Medicare and Medicaid.
Moral laws, such as abortion and gay marriage, are very simple. They are not mentioned in the constitution, so states will be free to do whatever they want.


Gun control is harder, since our ancestors amended the constitution to guarantee it. And the US Constitution is binding for all States. However, secession is possible and Ron Paul will not invade your state if you choose to secede. As a matter of fact, states are at all times free to leave the union and negotiate a new (different) treaty with the union.


Your state could secede and negotiate a new treaty with the union that only includes the free movement of people and goods, for instance.


You only lose if you are totalitarian, which means you want to impose your laws on all states even if their citizens do not want your laws. You also lose if you want to use federal resources, such as the army, without explicit permission from a majority of the states in the federation (which they can grant through congress).

Obama tried to get on some Ron Paul action with the money bomb, they hoped to get $5 million dollars to upshot the Republican Congressman. What he ended up getting was a big giant DUD. They ended up raising $4.6...... thousand! Weak sauce.

So, this begs the question... what is so special about Ron Paul - "has no chance" "no real support" "barely register in the polls" - to be able to pull people together to raise $4.3 million in one day while the "top tier" "real candidates" "front runners" struggle to pull individuals together to donate a significant sum? If this doesn't show where these "top tier" "real candidates" "front runners" such as Rudy, Hillary, Obama, McCain, Romney, Edwards, etc raise their money from - I don't know what does. The core support that Ron Paul gets comes at very little work from him, while these other candidates have to give handjobs to CEO's and do the big names a favor to get their money.



So, Ron Paul supporters are currently calculating another money bomb on the same day as The Boston Tea Party on Dec. 16th. They expect it to be even larger than the first. Earning as much as he did on the fifth has really gotten him some media attention, and well deservingly. Jack Cafferty is the shit by the way.

One of the most incredible things to me is the amazing amount of international supporters Ron Paul has. British Italy, Belgians, French, Scandinavian, Bulgarian, Asian countries, Latin countries, etc. The same day Ron Paul supporters plan to money bomb Ron Pauls donations site for the second time in six weeks, our friends across the pond will be in France at European parliament sending a message to their countries and their media that Ron Paul isn't someone who should be ignored.

Why such international support? I think it attributes to a couple points. They may think he is able to get America back on track and back to the role model nation it once was before. Freedom and Liberty is a strong message, and when the strongest nation in the world is free and peaceful society and economies benefit. You could also say they value sovereignty and privacy as much as you or I. They want their own and our government out of their lives.

If any of these candidates are not taking Paul seriously they are in trouble. Not necessarily because I think he can win but because the message he brings is powerful and most likely will be the message that brings them, or those much like them, down. I am beginning to think this isn't an impossibility after all. Hopefully he's like Truman in 1944 in the underdog wining the election sense... minus the forming of the UN, Cold War, NATO, and the Korean War. Yeah, just the underdog sense...

Candidate A is a 10-term US Congressman from a large Southern state who is an advocate for a smaller government and individual liberty. This candidate believes in strictly following the Constitution and has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted in favor of the war in Iraq or the Patriot Act, and wants to bring troops home as soon as possible. As a former doctor, this candidate has delivered more than 4,000 babies. One of this candidate’s goals is to return America to the gold standard, and he believes that the current monetary policy needs to be drastically overhauled because of the dollar’s decline.

Candidate B is a former governor from a Democratic state in the Northeast. Before that, he was credited for essentially saving the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He is a Mormon and family man who is considered a moderate-to-conservative member of the GOP. While Governor, he signed the first state laws in the nation requiring all citizens of this state to obtain health insurance. He is a strong supporter of keeping troops in Iraq although he has been critical of how the war has been handled.

Candidate C is a former two-term senator from a Southern state who was a long-time lobbyist before running for public office. He was chief Republican council for the Congressional committee that investigated Watergate in the early 1970s. He was an actor playing supporting roles in several major motion pictures before entering the Senate, and returned to a prominent role as a New York City prosecutor in a popular network television series after leaving office. He has mostly supported the war in Iraq, but has said he would have managed it differently.

Candidate D is a former two-term mayor of a major city in the Northeast, and is considered a moderate member of the party on social issues. As Mayor, he presided over a dramatic drop in crime in his city, and is best known for his leadership in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He established a worldwide security consulting business after leaving public office at the end of 2001 He has been a supporter of President Bush since leaving office and supports the war in Iraq.
