Universal health care, pro union, wants to expand the Department of Education by 18 BILLION DOLLARS (remember "no child left behind" ? LOL), member of the CFR, supports homegrown terrorism act (just another extension the the USA Patriot Act recently passed by the house with only 6 votes opposing and currently in the senate), pursue UN sanctions on Iran, and has Oprah campaigning for him. No thanks. Barak is not even close to a compatible candidate. Besides, Barak probably isn't going to get the Democratic nomination. I see Edwards as the Democrats front Runner no matter what the polls say. If you think polls are accurate search "penn and teller frank luntz" in YouTube. Frank Luntz is the giant douche of the media. | ||||

| What's the Splatter? | Re: Ron Paul Presidential Debate Yeah Obama will never get the nod. Hillary is also not a good Idea if the democrats want to oust the republicans. Just imagine, with all the damage the republicans have done via GWB, they could still win if the Democrats choose a woman or a black man. Note: I believe they would both lose an election on a national level, and not just because of the woman and black thing. |

| Welcome to the new kind of crazy | Re: Ron Paul Presidential Debate I like Ron Paul, as much as I am a hippie liberal, Ron Paul talks about the constitution, and What he says makes sense. I believe he is what America needs, and honestly being a dem, I think that Hilary and Obama have no fucking chance in hell. I mean Hilary voted for the patriot act twice and I never liked her in the first place. and for Obama I just don't know about him, he seems a little funny to me i gget a bad vibe, Ron Paul has my vote 100%. MY mother actually told me that I should vote for Hilary if she gets the nomination nad I laughed in her face. she has no cut me off from all funds and I am picking fucking pennies out of the dryer to get food it sucks. |

I might as well mention he is a member of the CFR and wants to mandate national service as well. So, take it for what it is... no way in hell for me... If you are a Democrat you may want to look at Dennis Kucinich. I do not agree with him on MANY of his fiscal issues, and some of his social issues. But, in his own way, I guess you could say he's a constitutionalist. Project Vote Smart - Representative Kucinich - Voting Record I most agree with Mike Gravel though. But, Ron Paul is a good choice. Possibly the best choice. Members of both the Libertarian and Constitution Party psuedo-endorse Ron Paul. In fact, the Libertarians have invited Ron Paul to run under the Libertarian party in case he doesn't get the Republican nomination via LNC Committee resolution. | What's the Splatter? | Re: Ron Paul Presidential Debate Ron Paul, unfortunately, is far to intelligent to be President of the United States. Stossel tried to color the interview with questions that attempted to paint Paul as an extreme isolationist. In my opinion it didn't work, although I had to dissect a lot of his answers. How many fearful "terror level" citizens could understand those answers? As much as we would like to pretend the "right" and "just" have a chance to achieve greatness in America today, it is the powerful lobbyists and the society of fear that induce "party line" voting. Candidates today for the most part will not even give a free form speech about their views, lest they say something that may inflame a part of the voting populace. As a result, we see cookie cutter debates, moderated, scripted and paid and endorsed by the people and organizations that are shaping our future to be "their" future. We are no longer being asked what kind of country we would like to have, we are being told what we are going to have. Everyone knows that even if elected Ron Paul would not be able to do most of what he wants to do, but it would be nice to see someone that breaks ranks with the current crop of politicos. The next election will once again be won and lost and shaped by the media. |

If you believe polls he has a 7-8% nationwide, but these are numbers that are being polled from people who voted Republican last year, so basically people that voted for Bush. Ron Paul is getting a whole new constituency to come out and vote. The young, the disenfranchised, the apathetic, and others disgusted with the current political arena being served up to us. In my opinion he has a shot, but it's gonna be a long hard road out of hell. Originally Posted by AnnonUSA

He can veto budgets, bills, etc. No more NSA spying projects as those were done via executive order. There will be lots of changes, but yes many of what he will want to do like get rid of the Fed, and fix a lot of what's wrong with our economy and erosion of personal liberties will have to get past the house and senate first, but it's a start, and there's a lot of people out there realizing this and realizing we need to get other like minded people in office. Watch for a lot of Libertarians, Constitutionalists, and "Ron Paul Republicans" to be running for office in the upcoming years.
