In case anybody missed it in the liberal media, Senator Al Franken wrote an amendment that will let our socialist government interfere with private contracts and say that companies won't be allowed to prevent employees who were raped at work from going to court.

More big government. More socialism. Less freedom. Damn shame. Thomas Jefferson is rolling over in his grave......and onto a female slave probably...but rolling over nonetheless.

You've got this all wrong. There would be no contract between the individual and the "private" government (wait.. what?) defense contractor without the government. For this reason, I see this as a function and responsibility of the government with these corporations acting as an arm of the government. This amendment will allow individuals the right to take defense contractors, which are government connected corporations (Mussolini would call this, government connected corporations, fascism), to court for some of the most egregious violations and would in essence be a form of check and limitation on them. I actually support this amendment.

The Republican senators opposed to this bill are not capitalists. They are not free-marketers. They are corporatists. They are fascists. They are hella lame.

What did I get wrong?

This is a great amendment. It's amazing 30 senators opposed it - using that same, tired arguments about "we don't want government involved in writing contracts". It's a fucking company hired by the government...how is the government NOT gonna be involved? Not to mention the whole ethical thing about a woman being raped and not being able to take the rapists to court.

I was being sarcastic when I said this is Big Government.

I don't see it as a limitation nor an expansion - just common sense. If an employee of a government contractor gets raped at work, in which universe is she not allowed to go to court? Amazing what people are allowed to sneak into contracts.

He was never funny as a performer on SNL. I dont know which sketches he wrote - so I dont know if he was a good writer or not. But Stuart Smalley was corny.

Never read his books or listened to him on Air America either (I dont think anybody did).

I think my home state finally got sick of him. Minnesota is a rather blue state anyways. They love them some agriculture subsidies.
