I thought he was one of the better journalists, if one of the few real journalists. He rarely threw out opinion, unless asked. His style of interviewing was always hard hitting, I don't think I've ever seen Russert give a soft balled interview. He asked the questions and let you formulate opinions on your own. He isn't some elitist out there that got where he is by the grace of his parents money or political connections, his dad was serving in WWII at age 17 and worked two jobs till he retired from his main job which was garbage truck driver.
Some douche bag will probably take his place. God, I hope it isn't Keith Olberman. He is far too opinionated, bias, and partisan. He should go back where he came from, ESPN. I doubt they will find anyone to fill his shoes. Anyways, I ain't too particularly perturbed by this news, I didn't know him, nor did I really watched him (or MSNBC for that matter). But I did notice he was one of the better ones out there when I did.
