Maybe if the Yanks loved soccer there wouldn't be such hideous obesity problems. it's pretty sad how most of north america considers the only "good" sports to be either ones where you need at least a grand worth of equipment to even be able to play, or ones which need to be stopped every 2 minutes over some bullshit rules, or a fair bit of both combined. Maybe Americans are just jealous that a ridiculous bit more people in the world enjoy not only playing (an interesting note; how many of you football or hockey fans ACTUALLY play the sport?), but even just watching a sport (when viewership for the Superbowl or Stanley Cup enters the BILLIONS bracket, lemme know) that can be JUST as exciting (and often even more, as it's a lot easier to be intense when you can actually move your whole body as opposed to just your legs because the rest of it is covered in four inch thick pads) with less than $100 of gear on a player. Till you can come up with a sport that's superior to soccer, please don't diss... and the majority of the entire planet's population agrees with that statement.

to play, it may perhaps be more enjoyable. but to watch, it's pretty boring (and it's also more difficult to follow 5-10 balls than to follow the track of one). I neglected to target basketball, which is also a sport fun to play AND watch without costing too much money, but that's irrelevant since it's mostly just American as well. only basketball i've seen played in Europe was played with a soccer ball.

and I think hacky sack is superior to soccer... and I KNOW disc golf is...

i [played soccer for 7 yrs and football for 5.

i dont like soccer from experence, it is a very very boring game to watch imo.
