I don't believe in the power of mankind. Frankly, I think the majority of the world is nothing but goddamn idiots. I think humanity is nothing but trash, and that people are nothing but garbage most of the time. In short, I am a cynic.

I choose to have faith in God, not because I feel I know he or she and not because I believe I have some mighty calling. I have not, in my entire existence, seen any shred of evidence that God exists. I believe most organized religions are nothing more than organized bullshit.

But I choose to believe in God, because I refuse to believe in nothing. The idea that something greater than us exists, something more powerful, something good, is comforting.

Science cannot prove God, nor can it disprove the existence of God. So I accept God as a matter of faith. Is faith a bad thing? Yes, when evidence exists that disproves a matter of faith. In that case faith and reason conflict. But reason does not conflict with the IDEA of God. And ideas are usually a goodthing.

Does God work? I don't know. I don't care. Is God active in our lives? I don't believe so, but I don't know.

I can see your point of view, and it is a good one.
But your theory that Atheism is moronic at best is the exact same as my theory towards people with alot of faith in God.

You said you choose to believe in God because it's comforting, I see it as false hope. I could give a shit what science claims to be honest, I just think the concept of an invisible man in the sky is nothing short of being flat out ridiculous.

And I would also agree most people just fucking suck, and power of humanity is a pretty sad thing to put religious views towards, but I'm no optimist so I just do it because to me it seems to be the more realistic point of view, even if it is a shittier point of view.

Although I do think if we should worship or put faith in anything it should be the 4 elements. They're responsible for making us really, without them we're fucked. They also have the power to kill us, and all of them are greater than we are.
And when we die we become part of the Earth over time, well maybe not with the odd exception of people like Hunter S. but for the most part we eventually end up being one with the Earth.

The misconception that chemical reactions in the human brain, induced by foreign substances, are easily confused with or mistaken to be spiritual experiences. That goes a long way towards understanding religion, it's creation and it's beliefs.

Have you ever tried them though? I've never had Datura, but I have abused the shrooms from time to time and no matter what anyone says, that is a spiritual feeling.

Ever hear the beliefs for the Lnu tribe of Native Americans? Some of the stuff in their belif system I find to be downright wacked, but at least 50% of it is right on in my opinion.
