Computer's fuckin' up again...

Ok My computer was fucked up like last year with literally like nine viruses that just fucked up the entire thing, my Dad formatted the harddrive in dos, and re-installed windows xp... We put mcaffee on it and it has an enabled firewall, but in the past hour it just restart itself 4 times in a row...

Im talkin to BoonDock now...

Anyone else have an idea whats wrong?

he said it keeps restarting...i don't know what his problem is..i get the feeling he just clicks shit cause this shit happens to him all the time...i'm on the web all the time and i never get these problems

well i need to know for sure.
If its still happening right after a format and reinstall then its not software.
It could be a heat issue, a power issue[not a big enough power supply, or the power supply is going kaput], could be a memory thing, could be a shorting issue...among a couple other things.
If it's a heat issue it's more than likely dust. What he needs to do is get his rig to a tire shop and take thier air compressor and blow it out. If not he needs get more/bigger fans in there or a better heatsink.
If it's a power issue he needs a new power supply.
If it's a memory thing, and he has two sticks of memory he needs to try one stick and see if that helps if not then he needs to try the other one. If not try them in different slots. If it still doesnt help he needs to get new memory, or if he is not sure still he should get someone elses memory and try that.
If it's a shorting issue he needs to make sure nothing on the mother board is directly touching the case.

Thanks for the help man ya it just restarts completely, I bet it is a power supply thing I have had it on all day everyday, and I bet its the power... thanks for the help guys. I'll def. check it out...

not to doubt your haxxorness but why not just take the case off and blow some compressed air into it..i mean the cans you get from walmart not the shit you get from goodyear.

dish out a bit more and get a new rig..just spent 449 and got me a 160 gig hd, 3.1 gig amd, duel layer dvdr rw, 512 or ram and it's teh poanage

I wasnt planning on it all on my own, dont get the wrong idea but I'm not spoiled, thankgod... My parents said if I get straight a's all 2 semesters of my sophomore year they will help with half of the car, and insurance but I'm on my own for gas...
