This is a AIM conversation with Curtisd and myself. I present it here for your entertainment and comments or suggestions.....

Xx C ur tis D xX: you know computer fans, how you have to plug them into the power supply and they have a different sort of connector to connect into the power supply?
AnnonUSA: Yeah
Xx C ur tis D xX: is there a way to switch them so you can put them in your grow box to circulate air and then plug them into a normal 110V power bar?
AnnonUSA: NO
AnnonUSA: If the fans are 12Volts DC and you hook them to AC power, they will not work
Xx C ur tis D xX: is there any way to cconvert them to get them in your grow box?
AnnonUSA: But you might get a nice burn, and a blown breaker.
AnnonUSA: Either go to Radio shack and buy 120V AC fans or buy a 5 volt power supply and use it to run the DC fans
AnnonUSA: sorry I meant 12Volts

AnnonUSA: No 120Volt AC fans
AnnonUSA: 12 volts is the DC fan

AnnonUSA: If you can find an old PC power supply, you could use that to power the fans....

Xx C ur tis D xX: do you know any brand of pc fans that are suuppper quiet?
AnnonUSA: Usually bigger is quieter, a 120mm fin moves more air at lees speed, so it makes less noise.
AnnonUSA: You can get them from CompUSA made by Antec.
Xx C ur tis D xX: do you think a input fan that brings air in on one side, and an exhaust fan on the other side would be good for just one plant?
AnnonUSA: It would be a wind tunnel

AnnonUSA: look at the CFM rating on the fan
AnnonUSA: That tells how many Cubic feet of air per minute the fan will displace

Xx C ur tis D xX: and 15 tall
Xx C ur tis D xX: 15 deep
Xx C ur tis D xX: just a smallll plant
AnnonUSA: a standard PC fan usually has a CFM rating of 45-60 CFM
Xx C ur tis D xX: so in a box that small it would work good?
AnnonUSA: more than enough

there's nothing more painfully mind numbing than reading others aim conversations.

but my advice for curtis:

don't be a dumbass, growing one plant is pointless. and pot STINKS. your room will smell like weed, as probably your entire house. you'll get caught as soon as it starts getting fun.

also, i once some kid who is 20 and lives with and off his parents in ABQ, NM, jacks it all day with his fleshlight, and goes by the name pube on an internet forum rigged a computer fan up to a 110 wall outlet. i just found stripped the wires and connected them. probably stupid and unsafe, but it worked.

Hey Curtis - Kill someone and put them in a box in there too. The odor from the body, will mask the Plant's smell.

it's activated carbon that they use int he filters.
we used to have 4 tanks going at one time. a 90, a 55, and two 29's. if the water got too old it would smell. the carbon only takes the odor out of particles that pass through it thats why they go inside your filter assembly.

there is no way that it is going to trap the smell in your setup curtis

Activated carbon is pretty much the standard for odor control... you can buy huge fucking carbon filters at this hydro shop in our town...

Hey boon, you guys got salt water tanks or just freshwater? My dad has a reef aquarium, 255 gallons. I've only got a freshwater with chiclids right now, but I'm thinking about changing it to a salt water this summer... the fish are so much cooler

shit dude i can talk fish for days. i have all cichlids but my step dad has a couple salt tanks that i help him set up. i used to work in a fish store and really learned a lot. i love keeping fish. when we move i plan to set up a 300 gallon cichlid tank.
what kinds do you have? african or south american?
my wife likes the africans cause aside from the frontosa which is one of my favorite fish most of them are smaller sizes.
i like the south american breeds like the midas/red devil, convicts, trimacs, flowerhorns. i like large tough fish.
my favorite is when people used to come in and want a "mean" fish and they would all pick out oscars. they think they are tough cause they are big and they eat a lot but they are pussies.
green terror is another real cool cichlid.

if you have room and you want a mean fish and you have a south american tank i recomend a red devil/midas or a green terror and if you have an african i recomend a frontosa
