just got back from checking them out. the prices are a lot cheaper than i thought. they had a shitload of electrics used for as low as $79 and then several for $99 and they had about 10 fender squire's for $129.

i'm gonna wait till the wife gets home and go back up and toss one into lay away so nobody else buys it and go back next weekend to get it out.

amp i can get there for $60 and they give me the cable for free.

guitar lessons are a tad steep. $65 per month and that gives 4, 30 minute lessons a week.

he said they teach you how to read music and read tabs alond with playing notes and a simple song or two.

i'll probably take a few lessons just to get the basics down.

he said they're tuned when they are put on display and then when you pick it up they'll tune it for nothing

So that is a total of 16 half hour lessons for the month. 8 hours. $65/8hours = $8.125 an hour. That is not bad. Doesnt sound that expensive to me, but then again ive never taken guitar lessons. It was $90 a month for 1 hour a week piano lessons for my sister. I think.

Excellent news, good luck with the learning process. I think it's good you're splashing out on lessons from a professional, because I've heard many tales of guitarists picking up very bad habits from half-arsed tutors.

Just stick with it. If you learn some songs that you actually want to play, along with the rudiments, you'll find it more enjoyable.

By the way, get a metronome.

whatsa metronome?

they have a tuner for $15. i don't know how it works. you plug it in and the led's light up after you hit the chord if it's in tune. he said he'd show me how to use it

metronome is one of those old time thingies that has the arm and swings back and forth so you learn to count the notes or whatever correctly, but now they have digital ones built in with the tuners, thats why i reccomended a korg, they're the best, mine cost like 30$

korg chromatic tuner CA-30, real nice, i dont think it has a metronome on it though.
