i have been stocking uo little by little. all it would take is the electricity to go out for an indefinate period of time and society would shut down and we would be in an escape from new york situation. i have been going to the springs down the street every couple weeks and filling my gallon jugs up with water. each time i go i set aside 2 of them for stash so we have water. when i go to the grocery store if we buy 2 cans of tuna i'll buy 2 for stash. my little brother sent me some mre's from the base he's at. i have been stashing away cans of soup, sardines, tuna, shit like that cause it don't need to be cooked and it keeps forever. i have 2 full clips for my 9mm and 2 full 50 round boxes of ammo and a full wheel in my .38 and 2 full 50 round boxes for that one too.
i still need to stock up on some first aide supplies like asperin, antiseptics, peroxide and things like that.
i want to get it to the point where we have like 90 days worth of food and water for 2 so we can stay in our apartment and be ok. depending on when something bad happens that would be enough time to allow us to possibly ride out the real bad winter weather before i have to go hunt for more shit.
it's paranoid i know but fuck it. whats a little room in my closet. besides it helps me sleep better at night.

i think it's not a case of if something happens but when it happens. a few terrorist attacks in the right spots will do it. a natural disaster or 2 will do it. if the bird flu takes off like some say will do it. the gov will put down a mandatory quarantine on people if they see them outside.
in 2028 some from the jet propulsion lab are saying that an asteriod a couple miles wide will hit earth. that will do it.
there are so many things out there. i rememer a couple years ago when the big blackout happned. that was about 24 hours and people were already freaking out. they were gouging prices on gas, ice, batteries. we were only down for a day. what do you think would happen if power went out for a month. chaos is what would happen.

^^ Dude, I agree. in case anything really bad happens, all you would need is a gun some food and some water. These three things would give you access to anything else that might be around, or to keep other motherfuckers from starting some post-apoclayptic shit with you.

2028 is a long time away but a national power outage that lasts for 2 months could start tomorrow. shit would be fucked then.
i got it set to where my wife and i could stay in our apartment with food, medicine, weapons, and clothes and be comfortable for 90 days or so untill i have to worry about restocking. i already told her that if it comes down to that we might have to eat our cat. she says she wouldn;t do it but if i were in that situation and i was starving, i'd saute' him right up.

those are the big 3 thats why i said i am stocking up on those. don't count out little things like pain medicine ar some over the counter cold medicine. maybe some peroxide or bedadine. in an apocolyptic word the last thing you need is a little cut to get infected.

Actually, come to think of it, he has two... so ill just borrow one...

I've lived without electricity for a week before, when it was blizzarding hardcore out... thanks to a generator... although it's technically electricity... but you get the idea...

have to think though. what if you don;t have the cash to buy it? no atm cards will work. no credit cards. if you don;t have enough gas to get you to the store you can't pump more cause the pumps are electric.

well yeah you can syphon and shit like that. we are talking only a power outage though. what about if the bird flu hits hard or starts to mutate into a human to human strain? the gov says you are to stay in your homes and under no circumstances come out. they have fema watchdogs patroling the streets and if you are spotted you will be taken to a quarantine facility where if you don't have the flu you will probably contract it there.
you are gonna need food and water to stay alive.
better have some weapons to defend the home front.
