| Freak | do you use a signal amp on your cable line? i have been using one but the cable guy just left and said it's not the best thing. it's ok for lines that are just hooked up to tv's but not so much for the net. he said the modem talks both ways not like a tv that only talks one way. with the modem the signal would be amped way up on one end but not the other. since one end is jacked way up the other end actually loses signal. he also said that at least comcast is in the process of updating software and shit and the tolerence is lower. he said any sort of noise in the line will fuck it up. it's more stable when it;s on line but it's more touchy. my net went down today and wouldn't come back up so the cable dude rerouted my shit.. he gave me all new splitters and new coax cable on most of the lines and the other 2 he gave me new connectors. it's working good now without the amp so i just thought i would let you guys know. |

| Freak | Re: do you use a signal amp on your cable line? mine was recomended and installed by my cable tech. it never really gave me a problem and my net was stable till today. just wanted to tell you what he said. he said it's like a band aid. if you need a signal amp there is probably another problem. in my case it was too many splitters/weak splitters and shitty cables |

| mexi | Re: do you use a signal amp on your cable line? i have the same one as annon... works like a champ, every cable guy i've ever had has said that shit, but even the last one admitted that one worked good, he did all his shit still couldn't get it perfect, hooked that up and it was all perfect.... before that i used to drop my net all the time, since i have 3 HDboxes signal getting it rough in this house |

| mexi | Re: do you use a signal amp on your cable line? alot of times shortening the lines and new better splitters will do the job, have 2 lines straight from the pole becuase i have so much shit.... it should be interesting doing this shit at my new house |

| Hence, my self-loathing | Re: do you use a signal amp on your cable line? Verizon is begining to string fiber to some houses up here. Supposed to kick cables ass. I'll wait on that shit though. I never believe anything Verizon says. |
