Say if the prices per barrel went up and the companies have to keep their prices at the level that is capped, they can't make money or may actually lose money. Our economy is based on oil and if the oil companies can't make money they close up shop, eventually creating either a monopoly, higher priced gas, or a gas shortage, in turn our economy takes a big blow. Therefore letting the laws of supply and demand, and capitalism run its course is best for the country.
Who said price was going up on gas? The media. What did this cause? The demand to increase. What does demand increasing mean? Higher prices. Thank you media! |

| Hence, my self-loathing | Re: Exxon's $10B fill-up: Cashing in on crunch The reason oil price per barrel is out of control is because GW Bush has done everything possible to screw up our international relationships with both our friends and enemies. While I agree with some of what he has done, (and when I say he, I assume we all know it is his administration we are talking about) mostly he has failed to keep America in a good light with the important players from other countries. And for that he is a dumbass. But for him it's a no lose situation, when barrel prices rise, Bush and lots of his friends make tons of money. The problem with that is that it is at the expense of the American economy. And Crash, your earlier posts were right on the money. |
