EXPLAIN TO ME WHY DID I HAVE TO CHOOSE A DISTRO THAT WAS STILL BASED ON RPM FUCK BSD'S PORTS SYSTEM WAS EASIER THAN THIS SHIT. FUCK YOU YAST ESAD AND FUCK KDE AND GNOME. Ugh, alright, brb downloading archlinux and installing fluxbox or xfce. fuck this shit. I hope to go I don't have to unmount / and /home/ and all that shit and delete them in order to start over again. I have so much awesome porn on this bitch that I realy don't want to give up but i really don't want to have a 2TB external hard drive full of porn around the house. Anyway, I must say linux people, installing linux is fucking ridank easy compared to installing BSD. Wtf, this shit partitions stuff the hard drive FOR YOU now? WTF. just wtf. I still have to manually partition for BSD.

Yeah, I got archlinux to work and the reason I fucking with packages was because I never install from packages, and now I see why. Nothing to me is easier than compiler in gcc compiler instead of fucking around with automatic package installers that make shit too easy and lets you fuck up your machine too easily. the only problem I have so far, is some programs I want are a bit under maintained and it's a fucking BITCH to find all the library dependencies to build them. And my only problem is, before when I was using BSD I still had windows, now that i removed windows, I'm realizing that my sound card, the X-FI is GROSSLY underrepresented by ALSA, while using BSD I basically only used it to browse the net or fuck around in the terminal or rm some shit. however....my card....fucking sucks. so I was forced to use OSS...which honestly, is the fucking worst possible sound driver in the world, but eh, it gets the job done. I understand that I was an idiot and the X-FI card was made only for windows and hell, Creative did alot more than I expected by releasing beta linux drivers that were complete utter shit...but that's beyond the point. And fucking a do I miss fluxbox. lol, I honestly don't get how you idiots with your elive and shit. Fluxbox or bust you faggots.

Given that I bascially only have Linux on this box now...not having sound is pretty gay. I guess I can alawys just hum the game sounds to myself from wine.

| it's OK, I'm a limo driver. | Re: FUCK, WHY DOES RPM SUCKS ASS. Yeah I have a creative platinum card or some shit, the sound quality is badass in windows, and total shit in linux, that's one of the crappier things about creative, they don't even like maintaining their windows drivers much less something for linux. Oh and Wolvix isn't enlightenment it's Xfce, Xfce on Slax basically. elive is though, honestly, I don't see a whole lot of difference between flux and enlightenment, besides the fact that enlightenment looks better and probably uses less system resources. |

I did take it off mute, I narrowed it down to when I installed Arch, arch detected both my X-fi and my onboard audio, and basically it caused a conflict, which in xterm, it didn't show me. I went into aslamixer and checked through every single slider, all unmuted. so I finally decided to say fuck it and arrange shit. Anyway, I basically busted open my PC and took out the creative X-FI soundcard, removed the bypass cable to the front ports, (which I assume, all along were linked to the onboard audio) and reinstalled... and right now I'm on my other non-linux machine, waiting on gentoo to compile and use its much more familiar ports package manager when I am too assed to get dependencie and compile. Ugh, earlier I fucked around with xubuntu, and I realized that if any Linux family was ever going to make it mainstream, it'd be Debian derivatives. APT makes getting packages and installing them WAY too easy. I honestly didn't get why TheDude |
