what did you think if it? i just watched it for like the 5th time and i fuckin loved it as much as the first time i saw it.
the butcher is one of the all time best characters ever in any movie and even though they dramatised it a bit, it was pretty well right about the gangs.

thinking about making me a shirt with a dead rabbit on it. have to draw it up though.
that was the old irish gang from like the 1840's back when the irish were coming over in huge numbers. i am probably related to some people from that time/place. might have to research it

anyhow, people talk shit about that movie but it had it all. drama/violence/action...what the hell more do you need

Awesome movie. It always seems like it's one of Scorsese's underrated movies. No one ever really talk about it.

the first 20 minutes is probally the most vicious fight scene in movie history, but i wasnt all that impressed by the middle of the movie, and it was not historically acurate at all, like making the butchers name Cutting, and just slapping all the notiable people from the era like hellcat mary, the butcher, and all the gangs together, as most of them never interacted. But those 20 minutes make up for it

it was close. they always do that shit with movies. the real bill the butcher was named bill toole and he was a butcher. there was tiffs with the gangs and it's cool they put in hell cat mary, the chick with the sharpened teeth.
i like it too cause it showed the beging of things like mott street, thats in the center of china town today where all kinds of shit has gone down over the years. and when the irish got off the boat how they were ushered over to sign a paper making them a citizen and then signed a paper making them privates in the union army. it wa close enough for me to like it.
