   | this happened about 5 miles away... last night when i was drunk as hell. it was fucking LOUD. Explosion Rocks Central Georgia An explosion at a plant in Peach County rocked Central Georgia early this morning. About 3,500 pounds of high explosive at the Pyrotechnic Specialties Incorporated plant blew up, according to Peach County Fire Chief Jeff Doles. Doles told us the plant makes igniters for airbags and flares for the military. Peach County 911 operators started getting reports of the explosion around 1:15. People called our newsroom from as far away as Jones County to report hearing a loud boom. The Fire Department asked people in the area to evacuate but they were allowed to return to their homes. The chief says nobody was injured in the explosion. Chief Doles said after fire crews responded to the explosion, they took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control. Doles says they've had to go out to the plant before. Jeff Doles: Peach County Fire Chief There have been a couple of fatalities here over the years, probably a 30-35 year period. One of the main buildings exploded probably 30 years ago. Probably 15 years ago they had another instance where there was another fatality. Those are the only three I'm aware of.
