How to care less

1. Drink
You will of course say that this is meant to be funny, or that I am being sensational for the purposes of getting traffic and the People have problems, they have passions, they die. Kids get born, they have problems and passions too, they also die.mindboggling sums of money this website rakes in. I am not. If you plan it right, you can drink for decades without becoming a complete alcoholic. It gives you something to look forward to at the end of a day, and it allows you to not give a fuck about how annoying other people are. It gives you a barrier between you and the rest of humanity, a force-field that they cannot breach. It takes the sting from your fuck-ups, the bitterness from your defeats, the shame from your failures.
2. Analyze
Look closely at almost any situation and you will realize how pointless and futile caring about it is. Caring comes as a result of you not thinking and letting your emotions do all the work. Emotions are a disease, reason is your mind’s only defense against them. You let them take over and you become a completely useless person, incapable of getting anything done. Scrutiny is a part of reason, and very little in life stands up to it.
3. People are shit, and there are a lot of them
They are not worth the effort. They are dumb fuckers who make their own beds and fully deserve to lie in them. No exceptions. There is nobody anywhere who is not to some extent deserving of their fate. Life only looks unfair when you are the one in trouble, to everybody else it’s actually kind of funny.
4. Arguments are dishonest
Pretty much all of them. It’s rare that anybody thinks anything all the way through lest they be proven wrong and have to back down from previously-held positions. So rare that I am going to say that it never happens. People mostly argue from self-interest, not from any desire to promote “truth”. Anything you believe, you believe because it is convenient, not because it’s right. You believe one thing over another because it suits you, it conforms to your desires, not because it’s the right thing.
5. Recognize that life is short
Life is like the internet, a handful of important things floating in an ocean of liquid feces and used condoms. You have a short time to swim through it all so choose wisely what you let matter. You can get bogged down for decades in shit that just looks important.
6. Nothing is new
People have problems, they have passions, they die. Kids get born, they have problems and passions too, they also die. Nothing in your life is new. It’s been done. Nothing you think or feel is special or world-changing. You are one of billions, each of whom thinks they are unique, walking in the footsteps of the billions who have lived and died before you. If someone murdered you right now, what would set you apart from all the murder-victims in history? If somebody grieved for you after your death what would set them apart from the billions who have grieved since people started dying?

And to be honest I don't care about much of anything either. So long as I have a dick, oxygen, and substances to keep me entertained, I'm a fairly happy fella.
