after you get done at yeoman school they will send you to groton for subschool but one thing a yeoman does personal records along with officer records on a sub same as the personalman they do both.

Ask for a fast attack boat they hit more and better liberty ports then a boomber does.

And stay away from the weed.

i've only heard that meridian sucks, but i'll try and make the best of it.

bootcamp isn't too hard el, just waiting through it is a bitch and especially hurting yourself, don't do that.

of course ron, i quit the green stuff for as long as i'm in the navy... which could be forever if i end up liking it. maybe be an officer... but thats a faraway thought right now...

sub duty... i've heard some bad stories about it... but i'll be able to handle it, i'll take the better pay and higher opportunity for advancement. i hope to make E-5 within at least the end of my four years first hitch, then switch over to legalman (if i stay in).

sub school was worse than meridian, just finished it, i took leave on friday and i don't have to report til july 5th, i've already talked to the leading petty officer on my boat. too bad i'm being stationed in ct, but i guess it won't be all bad... i wanted hawaii. when i get back i have to go through some 3 week training, like security in other countries, arms training, etc... then it won't be too long before i'm on the uss hartford ssn 768

Good deal Pig, what did they give you IT for? failing an inspection or contraband? And was it IT 1,2, or 3?

After you get done in MS they will send you to Groton for six weeks then the real fun begans when you reach your Boat Qulifiying ships.

By the way a Yeoman on a Boat(does officers records)does personal records also, same as a personelman who does officers.

And a piece of advice from an old Boomer Sailor if you want to see the world go Fast Attack. Boomers never get the good liberty ports.

yeah man, you're a little behind on the posts, but to answer your questions... the IT was for something stupid, i don't remember what, i got IT'd alot... i just finished sub school in groton, i'm on leave now, i report july 5th to my new boat - the uss hartford ssn 768. so yeah, its already set that i'm gonna be on a fast attack, i knew about the difference, thats why i chose it. i'm being stationed at the same base (CT) ... it was my last choice, but its not too bad, i don't mind

Get to hit all the good liberty ports in Europe.

I choose Boombers so i could have the off-crew 3 on 3 off did"t know about the sucky liberty ports,but hey i went to Rota,lisboa, Holy Loch,bahamas,and Fort lauderdale doing spring break in 87

Groton is pretty(are it was)i was staioned in Charlston myself.

Just stay away from the quzo.lol.

Glad to hear it, i wont lie its hard work with long hours and trying to Qulify Ships and learn your job(on the Boat) means little sleep, and if it was like it used to be you will be cranking for around a month maybe longer.

And until you get Qulifed you will be subject to a form of hazing as qulified members will mess with you how bad depends on the one doing it but its verbal mostly and getting shitjobs.

But as bad as i descibed it(and it sucked at the time)once they accept you and you become one of them its not bad.

I still have my Qulifacation certificate and my pictures getting it. and it has opened many doors for me,employers look at it like this if you can do that you can do this.

yeah, i've heard that its gonna be a bitch until you get qualified, not really doing anything else but standing watch and trying to get qualified... but i guess there won't be much else to do on a sub anyway...

and have you heard about that submariner club or whatever? its for people that have been qualified for 20 years or something like that. sometimes i see a group of old guys wearing thier old command ball caps walking around the base, i'm not sure what else this club is good for.

They watch alot of movies(once your quilified)on there. never heard of that club did"t exsist in 88(when i got out)or atleast on my boat people would sit around and talk about (usta fish)about how it was done on there last command.

Just remember do not ask for a quil board unless your ready as failing it(and i did once)automaticly puts you Dink.

And its tempting but stay away from grapes(people who will sign your card without asking you a qustion)it does not help you as those will be the qustions they will ask on your board.
