it started yesterday. i got called in to the video store and the owner was supposed to come in at 4. she never showed so i locked the store and left. she called that evening and she was totally wasted, couldn't hardly talk. drunk off her ass. today she calls and sounded drunk or at least very tired and pops off with 'if you want to run the store that fine, take over, i'll pay the bills, i don't want to come in anymore"
i told her we'll talk about it tomorrow.
my concern is that she is unreliable and seems like a drunk and the store does not make that much money.
sunday the store made $79 and yesterday it made $11.
the rent alone is $1200 a month. me and the other guy would be the only employee and she said she would pay the bills. still though, what happens when the store don't make money? who don't get paid? me.
what about on tuesdays when new movies come out and i am supposed to be the one to run to sams club and buy them cause she does not get them from a distributer? i only have one car.
what about when the other guy calls off and that means that i HAVE to come in no matter what and i have plans?
what about when she gets wasted and forgets to pay me?
i don't think i'm gonan do it. i don;t trust her after seeing how she operates and i don't think my time versus how much money i could make would benefit me.

i mean who the hell owns a business and all of a sudden just calls and says, i'm not coming in anymore? you can't do that.
today new movies come out and she's just not gonna open the store.

i don't want to have that hanging over my head.
i left a message for her and told her i think her best bet is to sell off all her inventory and walk away with as much cash as possible and break her lease. thats her only option i can see.


what do i do when the printer paper runs out, the computer breaks, all the other 100 things that could happen? in the winter i'm supposed to drop the wife off, drive across town to get paper, go to work, close the store, go get the wife, go back to work? fuck all that shit.

you did the right thing, it's a lost cause, i'm a businessman too, and sometimes you just gotta walk away when it's doing bad, cut her losses and leave..................sorry you'll be losing a job mate, but it's not worth taking on all the debt when you could start any one of your own endevours without the debt and overheads that the shop has..............Peace out.........Sid

i wouldn't really be taking on debt. i would basically be the "manager" but with all the responsibility. she said she will pay the bills. my concern is what about when the store makes no money? who is gonna be the one to not get paid?
what about every tuesday when it is snowing and i have to drive all over to get movies, drop off the wife, pick her up? what about when i want to hang with my wife and the fucker calls off and i have to come in?
those are my concerns.

what sucks is with my back pain this job was perfect. it was soooo easy and with no car i could walk there in about 8 minutes. sucks that it's gonna be gone.

hopefully i can work for the next week or 2 at the counter selling her inventory so i can hook my wife up for christmas. thats the thing i'm most pissed about. with our situation i am like the housewife.....laugh it up.
i take care of all the things around the house cause of my back and she works. i could never match the money she makes. i was happy cause i was really gonna spoil her for christmas this year. i have not been able to do it like i wanted to in 3 years. now it looks like i won't be able to.

the electric is about $250. plus phone, insurance, paying the other employee. thats big money for a store that is broke

i really want to do that but it's not too realistic. i could buy my own equipment any time i want. not the best stuff and not stainless tubes cause you need an autoclave but i could get good machines with disposable lexan tubes. thing is it would be a hobby. takes money to make money and we don't have the money to open a shop. plus you have to make sure you are tits at inking before you open. i know i can do it as i've done a couple but i don't know about good enough to do it in a shop. that takes practice. also, who would i practice on besides myself and the wife. i literally have zero friends.

my gut is telling me to walk away but i am also thinking, fuck it, do what you got to do to make as much money as you can. first time she don't pay me, take my money out of the till and walk. at the very least, walk away.

even though it is a small store there is some responsibility to it.

if we could get our movies from the distributer that would help a lot. having to go to smas club on tuesday is a pain in the ass with only one car and a harsh ohio winter coming up

i'm gonna tell her tomorrow that the store does not have enough intake for me and that i will work the counter for her till she sells her inventory but thats it. thats the best decision to make i think so thats what i'm gonna do.

she's probably gonna be a bitch and cop an attitude but then i'll have to tell her whats up. it's not my fuckin problem
