I didn't realize that since the stupid webcrawler we can't have guests anymore. That's retarded. A.) I don't think anybody is going to be typing "site:thejointforum" into yahoo, most people would type "thejoint" or "thejointforum" which I did and there is a gay and lesbian weed site called thejointforum.com, don't ask me how that works. B.) We're never gonna get bigger if people can't look before they sign up, and I don't see the point of advertising the j if people can't look around. C.) I'm assuming that cops have better things to do than randomly bust people on our awesome yet very small forum, i think they'd have more luck raiding overgrow or gc before they fuck with us. D.) As far as anyone is concerned, we are all a bunch of wannabee potheads that post pics of other people smoking and none of us actually do, there's no hard proof, so who is gonna waste their time prosecuting us. By the time anyone investigated we could have stopped smoking or be in a dry spell and not have weed and they'd look pretty stupid.

I think we should open our site back up. Obviously this is a democrazy at best, or luke could just tell me to stfu, but I think it's counterproductive to shut our site up like we have. Fuck Yahoocrawler.

From what I read I didn't think that Yahoo crawler wasn't a tottaly bad thing. I may not know all what is going on behind the scenes, but I don't like the idea of shutting it up either. I kinda frowned on the idea...but again I don't know everything that is "up." I really don't care a whole lot, but if we are trying to get people signed up that's kind of a bad way to go about it. But, I would not leave or anything because of it, and the joint is fine the way it is, but just my 2 cents...i say we reopen it back up...?

^^^ that's what I'm saying, plus I think the dipshits will sign up anyways just cause they want to start shit, it's the people that actually contribute that usually lurk for awhile then sign up. Plus I'm willing to start leaving little notes that say www.thejointforum.com in places I like to go to just to see if anyone will sign up, but I doubt anyone will if they can't look around first. I'm not gonna leave or anything either, and if there are reasons that compromise luke, boon, or ivy's anonymity online, that's cool, but I vote to reopen it too.

I think closing it does have its downsides.. But i do think it is a good idea to fend away police.. In those terms for joining the site luke should put something like

"If you are the fbi, police or affiliated with any government agency, please leave now. If you enter this site you are not agreeing to these terms and you are violating code 431.322.12 of the Internet Privacy Act signed by Bill Clinton in 1995"

If there is anything that compromises any member then it should remain closed, but I don't think there is much that compromises anything in the main forum, we can close the media and the grow. But, again, I may or probably don't know about the whole story. Maybe I don't understand how this crawler works. If it doens't get IP's or passwords or anything, just indexing it in a seach tool, I don't see the harm. But this is entirely up to Luke and I am sure he has or will make the right decision...

i really wasn't trying to start a fight or anything. I just wanted more people to be able to be able to look around and stuff. and i brought it up here because if anyone had any reasons to leave it closed, i figured better to get that out. sorry, from now on if i have any questions about the j i will take them directly to the mods and leave more open thread space for "I just ate a ham sandwich" threads.
