I actually read the first installment and found it to be well written and as exciting as watching flies fuck.

Great book? Not even close.
Greatest? I believe the answer you are looking for is the Bible. I'll admit it does have all the litterary devices needed in a great story. Conflict on many levels, sex, murder and far too many other things to mention here.
