I was tending my garden while high, and it occurred to me that if life reincarnates into other forms, then the highest form of life must be that of a plant. Plants can eat without killing, either other animals or plants. They can live among others without petty arguments and squabbling over insignificant differences. They accept life, day in, day out, without remorse or complaint. If ideal conditions present themselves, they can thrive for decades, even centuries, without being sidetracked by vices, such as materialism, religion, or fame. When they’re lives comes to an end, they provide us with a brief glimpse into the perfect serenity of what it must be like to be a plant.
