in high school recreuiters go into the schools to talk to kids about recruitment. parents aren't contacted about this nor do they have to give permission for this...not they are creating a database of children for possibly militart use later.

The massive database includes an array of personal information including birth dates, Social Security numbers, e-mail addresses, grade point averages, ethnicity and what subjects the students are studying. The Pentagon has hired the Massachusetts-based company BeNow to run the database apparently in an effort to circumvent laws that restrict the government's right to collect or hold citizen information by turning to private firms to do the work.

That file will be matched with the full database regularly to ensure that those who do not wish to be contacted are not, according to the Pentagon.

well yeah dude, I know I had to take a test.. I wanna say it was called the asvap that basically gave you a rating as to what you should do in the military how fit you are mentally to be in the military, all that bs.. and of course they get all your info, phone number, ss #, address, all that rot. After the test they call you constantly if you placed high. But I found a way around it.. if you wanna stop the calls, just tell them you tore your ACL and they'll never bother you again.

we had "bootcamp" 2days in a row for gym, once a year since 9th grade when the army would come in and run our gym class-- lol i always took off those 2days. they had a huge blow up uncle sam, and a hummer w/ this huge system playin music. and they'd pull out their guns and shit and be like yea i bet u wish u could do this, well u can... and the sad part is the fuckin kids fall for it.

happened to my little brother. i don't know how it's legal but they wentto his school and he signed up when he was 17 into a delayed entry program. apparently it's binding and he couldn't get out of it. 4 years mandatory and then some kind of bullshit alcuse where the marines could tack on another 2 years for whatever the fuck.
went to cam devil dog and now he is in fort knox, i'm pretty sure if this iraq thing don't end soon which it won't that he'll see the sandbox.

Everyone i know in any branch of the armed forces signed up since 9/11/2001. They all knew we were going to war or were already at war when they signed up. Talking to them, those who are still here and those who are there, none seem to have many regrets.

Sorry to sound like a dick but anyone who joins up knows whats going on right now.

not exactly dude. the recruiters job is to get people signed up. i doubt they are very forward about yeah, if your ass signs up then you'll be going.

you know, they are salesman man and they are talking to 16-17 year old kids. they are selling them.
i wasn't in on the conversation but i can imagine it's an awful lot of talk about all the great benefits of being in the military and not too much about the chances your ass is gonna be put on the line. thats just my opinion.

these kids are still minors and it's just not cool that the recruiters are allowed to have them sign documents being under age.

yea i agree it isnt cool to recruit 16 yr old kids with big bonuses.

They can more choose what they will be doing once they get to basic. I have a friend doing sheet metal repair in the marines who wont be going for over 2 years, and i have a friend in infentry support who is there now and another who will be going soon. both of them knew choosing their position ment going quicky, and the one who chose sheet metal repair knew he woundnt be going for a while and when he did he wont see much direct combat.

lol... i can see everyone's opinions about joining the military... well, i can say that i don't want to go because of a recruiter, i've never even talked to one... i'm considering it for other reasons... (not to be a hero, and i don't believe in the cause) i've seen them at my school... and moore was right when he said they target the poor areas... the high school i was going to before ( 9th- 11 1/3) had people there everyday... and i mean everyday... it was a very mixed school with too many some kid who is 20 and lives with and off his parents in ABQ, NM, jacks it all day with his fleshlight, and goes by the name pube on an internet forums. this school i'm going to now, i've only seen army people 3 times, because overall, this is a much nicer/whiter/richer area...
