Basque Country or Basque is a mountainous(which is probably why my last name translates to mountain man/highlander in Spanish.), autonomous state/state/province, whatever you want to call it, in Spain. It's the state my main line of lineage resides from. The Greater Basque Country is a the same thing but a region shared by both Spain and France. Back in the day the region was kind of like the wall between the Spanish and French because they hated their guts, but within the region the people were one. Ironically I live right by the Basque here which had the same kind of meaning. When Coronado and his men were settled here they would come under frequent indian attack so the Rio Grande river got the nickname Basque, it was like the dividing lines for the Spanish and Indians. Of course only the Spanish would honor that and the Indians would attack anyways, but good 'ol Indian Slayer took care of that. The guy pictured in my av is my 15th removed Grandfather from my great-grandfathers lineage. You may know him as Francisco Vasquez de Coronado, aka Indian Slayer. Direct blood lineage, in fact 15th gen Grandfather like I said. I had another relative, Governor of New Mexico, New Spain, Juan Batista de Anza. He married a great x like 13 aunt, but they had no kids. He was the first to find a safe route from Santa Fe to California though. Also my great-grandmothers father signed the constitution of new mexico that granted it statehood. I got hella history and hella roots here in new mexico.

Also my aunt on my moms side claims that I'm some distant cousin to stonewall jackson, but how many kids were told some BS like that as a kid? At least with my Spanish lineage I got like all sorts of family trees that all correlate, some of it on Wiki too.

Im sure I do have mexican in my blood, and some relatives. All my immediate family are white as fuck, even my dad and his family who are 100% spanish look white. I'm pretty sure i also have some jewish and muslim blood in there too, since they were runnin around in spain back in the day. I'm also half irish/english/scottish. not sure how much of which, but thats all i know about my mom. Actually i take that back, I'm like 1/16 apache also. basically just a mutt, but i take most pride in being spanish since thats the ethnic background my family revolves around, i even have a HELLA spanish name.
