they said the same thing last year, shit will get messed up, but nothin that bad. not to mention they said this exact storm was gonna hit the carolina coast and it litterally turned around, goes for what they know....... i haven't watched much i'm just going by weather people always being wrong.

this is different from anything they have dealt with before. The waters are hot (90 degrees plus), and the eye wall is so close to the city now and the storm is so massive that it really wont matter if it shifts it course unless it turns completely around which is not possible. This storm is just as strong if not stronger than Andrew from 92. Most likely the city will be underwater for many weeks to come, especially if the levy pumps fail. They said it could be a disease infested disaster area beyond anything we have seen.

This is the dooms day senerio for that city being played out. While I feel bad for the residents, I am always amazed at the battle between Man and Mother Nature.

you obviously have no FUCKING CLUE what your talking about so ill make it simple for you.....

New Orleans is surrounded by water (a large lake, and the mississippi river), and is about 15ft. below sea level. The city is surrounded by a levy which is 20 ft at its highest point. Projected storm surge is about 30 ft. They believe that the lake could overflow and basically spill into the city. Seeing how the city is a bowl, the water will not drain unless pumped out. If the levee pumps fail, all bets are off.

Add to that about 20 inches of rain and 160 MPH winds for 14hrs straight, and you might as well kiss it all goodbye.

The Levee pumps will not be able to keep up with a 30 Foot surge even if they don't fail.

actually now that i'm watchin they seem they might be fucked... it's a catagory 5, but their saying if the scale continued over that it would be like a 5.5(but obviously it only goes to 5)........ i mean i have givin up on news folks i go by what it's like when i go out, but it seems like its a possibility, and i hope shit gets torn the fuck up they deserve it they took my boy to jail during mardi gras one year for public drunkenness.. i mean holy fucking shit....he did flick off a cop for running into him, but he didn't deserve to go for that it's just a finger, and the cop did push him pretty hard while he was tryin to get threw the crowd.. fuck them all, i hope that cop gets hit by a fuckin tsunami

true, but if they have the pumps at least they can EVENTUALLY pump it out. If they go, that would involve fixing giant levy pumps below 30ft of water. Not happening. Plus you have the problem of like 30,000 people trapped inside the superdome and other assorted shelters around the city.

This is why you dont live in harms way, cause eventually, natures gonna kick your ass.
