What Do You Think of These Ideas For The Joint?

Well I was trying to set up "J-mail" for you guys [you@thejointforum.com, with e-mail client integrated into the forum], was really fuckin awesome, but the server needs to have the PHP recompiled with IMAP for the client to function properly, which has to be done by the host, who hires a tech dude, costin like $200 to get it done, because it has to be throughout the WHOLE server...it'd be really fuckin nice but i don't think it's gonna go thru, Travis, the guy from our hosting co. said he'd see if the guy would hook him up because he owed him a favor, but there's nothin i can do without them setting up the IMAP, it's a complex, time consuming process which involves taking the server offline for awhile [server with lots of customers on it]...I wanna make The Joint the most hossified forum on the net, and since that's probably not goin thru, I thought I'd see what else I can do to spruce this place up a bit...

1. An Awards System
Our hossified members can get awards for being hossified roaches, they'll be visible in your posts, your profile, and a special awards page.

2. Upgraded Reputation System
Well, some of our roaches already have a grip of leaves, so I want to redo the rep system [you'll still have your rep/leaves] to accomidate for the roaches with high reputations.

3. Show Avatar & Sig In The UserCP
Doesn't serve a whole lot of use, but I want to take out the Subscribed Threads section in the UserCP and replace it with a box showing your avatar & sig, just a nice little touch i think.

4. Allow Roaches To See All Reputation
This will add deal in your reputation box where you can see not only the last 10 rep you've recieved, but you can have it show ALL reputation you've recieved.

5. Favorite Threads
This will set up another box in the UserCP where you can have your favorite threads, keep track of those really good ones.

I'm also planning on adding a totally integrated photo gallery but the software for this hellaciously cool add-on costs 60 bones which i can't afford right now or anytime soon, so we'll wait on that one.

So anyway, let me know what you think of these 5 new features I want to add...

by the way, if the J gets screwed up, it's probably just me fucking around with shit, but I got it all backed up so don't worry too hard unless I commit suicide, and in that case, you're on your fuckin own...

sounds good to me...I especially like 1 and 2...if you commit suicide send someone the backup so we can get this site back up and running...if you send it to me I'll have to rename it DA's FUNLAND...

I think the photo gallery would be badass. If everyone could have there own section to keep there pics and everyone could see them

there is one feature thats a points or money system and a joint store where they can buy shit.

so yuo earn points and then you spend them in the store. for instance you can make your avatar bigger, make your custom title glow, change other users custom titles, shit like that.

i've always liked that idea but whatever

I like the ideas though. keep em coming luke. It's a good idea that you are planning for the future. I am seriously surprised the joint lasted this long...look at where it's gone homie. look at where it's gone.
