| Brofessor | Re: iPhone Anyone that wants the iPhone before it is even released is a fucking complete moron. This shit is fucking ridiculous. Steve Jobs is a marketing genious, and they havent released SHIT on it as far as information other than "all the cool features". They JUST announced that it will be able to MS Exchange which is going to suck because that's my fucking area. I was hoping I wouldn't have to touch one, other than maybe the random POP account. You can't take the battery out of the device, you have to send it to Apple. The buyers remorse period for every other phone is 30 days, for the iPhone it's 14. Visual voice mail (Which is an AT&T product - not Apple) looks pretty slick though. Other than that this device is going to be a support nightmare from hell, but for the most part it's staying out of my department. BetUS.com has 20:1 odds that someone will be trampled on the release day of the iPhone - Get your bets in TheDriver and taco... http://www.livescience.com/technolog...ne_future.html |

| Brofessor | Re: iPhone There will also be no SDK, so it is going to be tough developing third party apps/widgets for it. I can't wait to get the calls "Can I open a PDF? How about view a Flash movie? Can I watch something in DivX? Is there a stopwatch? I'd like a flashcards program to help you study for that test next week? Want an eBook reader? Maybe a Skype client? Think you might want to open a Remote Desktop or VNC connection to your office PC? Is there a light database to track your expenses on the road?" and my answer will be "Nope - and more than likely there won't be." That's just how Apple rolls. There's no picture messaging on it either, because Steve Jobs thinks it's "rubbish." |

Blackberry's aren't really consumer phones. Also, there wasn't 10% of the hype when RIM came out with it's first consumer phone, which is a shitty device imo, the Pearl. Since then the 8800 and 8300 have come out, the 8800 is an excellent device, where as the 8300 has a lot of the same problems the Pearl has. Blackberrys at least can fix their problems without having to send the piece of shit in, a simple reloading of the OS fixes them about 99% of the time. |

| Hence, my self-loathing | Re: iPhone Yeah the Pearl belongs in a clam at the bottom of a bay somewhere... Blackberry's biggest drawback is the fact that their screens (Color and resolution) generally suck. They have he potential to produce a killer consumer product but they don't. Maybe when the IPhone disillusionment begins it will be more of a push to attack that market. |
