   | linux on laptop questions ok so i'm planning on hooking my laptop up with linux soon. the thing is though, how can I be certain all my peripheral shit will be recognized by linux? I'm kind of worried that my laptop's IR port won't be able to transfer files and I just need to know if linux recognizes and can work with a bunch of peripherals without me needing to search in dark alleys on the internet for some obscure linux version of a program the device may need to work properly.... I'm also worried about getting my dsl to work and my printer/copier/scanner working with all features, since the install disc claims to only work with Windows9x, XP, and and Mac OS 9 / OS X. Or... would the Mac install also work in linux?? ... AHHH HelP!!! | ||||

 | Re: linux on laptop questions on the dsl you should be fine, I'd use an easy distro like ubuntu or mandrake, but it will more than likely come up. My printer/copier/scanner is broken so i haven't even tried to hook it up. What kind of all in one is it? | ||||

 | Re: linux on laptop questions I'd use Ubuntu, Mandrake, or openSuSe... Mandrake picked up my printer no problemo. With SuSe it took a bit of fiddling. But everything else should work, but I would do a little searching for that IR port things because that's something I don't know about. | ||||
