I highly suggest Ubuntu for your first distro. | Re: Slackware 11.0 TOMO; FreeBSD will be done downloading tonight. It's only a 1.13 GB file. If it's not as good as you say it is I will personally find you and rape you. It's Unix based, but not based on the Linux Kernal, comes native with the GNOME desktop... I think... can have KDE and others, but I think GNOME is whats installed on it. Also, Slackware is downloading as well. Im gonna try out a ton of them and figure out which two to keep. Hopefully I can narrow it down to 2.  Knoppix and Gentoo after this.... maybe... | ||||

 | Re: Slackware 11.0 i went as far as downloading gentoo and burning onto a cd a while back. i was going to install it on my laptop, but the hd died during the installation, so i sent it in (it happened during the last month of the 3 year warranty  ) and they returned it to me with xp and all the goodies and updates all installed, so i decided not to fuck with it.maybe someday, i'll get ambitious enough to fix what's not broke again... | ||||
