Dude, my favorite game ever is Mario Kart for Super Nintendo. This just might make me have to get a Wii, but probably not... BUT IT HAS FUCKING BIKES!!!!!

At the ongoing Nintendo Fall Conference in Japan (which has already provided some new information about Wii Fit, Wii Ware and Smash Brothers) Nintendo has announced some further details about the upcoming first-party racing title Mario Kart Wii. While the release date has been pushed back from Q1 2008 to Spring 2008, notes from a live-blogging of the event on Japanese site Gemaga describe the newest addition to the Mario Kart regime: bikes.
It is unclear whether the bikes will be mostly an aesthetic effect or if the control mechanics will differ between karts and bikes. Mario Kart: Double Dash featured a collection of different carts with different statistics, but control was more or less the same across the board.
While the crowd murmured about the announcement of WiiFit at this year's E3, Ben and I sat next to each other chatting about how great Mario Kart Wii looked. Despite accusations that Nintendo had nothing to offer the hardcore gamer in terms of announcements at the show, the latest incarnation of the classic kart-racing series was looking sharp in its debut. On top of the trick system shown in the videos and the return to one-man-per-ride, the new bikes sound like a great new addition to the formula.
