How does Chilirec work?
Chilirec is a recording device on Internet. When you start your recorder it will begin to record Radio channels on Internet. Your music will be saved in a personal directory on Internet.
Where is my personal directory saved? How many songs can I record?
It is saved on Internet - it will not use any disk space on your computer. You do not need to be concerned about running out of disk space, we will provide the required space.
Will I be able to save songs on my own disk?
Yes. If you like, you can save a personal copy of the song on your own disk, iPod or other media player. Click on the small floppy disc icon to the left of the song title in the list of search results to save the song in the file format mp3.
If I have thousands of songs, how will I find a certain song in my directory?
Use the Search field. It works like a traditional search function. You will be able to search on Artist, Title or Genre and get a list with hits.
How will I listen to the music?
You will be able to search in your directory and when you double-click on the music title, it will appear in the player. It is also possible to click on a song or a playlist, hold the mouse button and then drag the song or playlist to the Player. (drag and drop)
Do I always have to be logged in to Chilirec and keep my computer turned on to record music?
No. You can log out from Chilirec, close your web browser or shut down your computer, it does not matter. Chilirec keeps recording songs until you choose to stop the recording. Though, we recommend that you create an account so that you always have access to your recorded music.
For how long does the recording go on? When does it stop? What is recorded?
The recording of radio channels goes on continuously until you decide to stop the recording. That which are recorded from the radio channels you have selected are only songs, not commercials etc.
Account
Do I need to connect to my Chilirec account every time?
No, chilirec.com stores a cookie with your connection data. With the cookie, you are connected to your Chilirec account automatically. If someone else want to reach his/her account from your computer, you first need to log out from your Chilirec account.
I have forgotten my password, what shall I do?
If you have forgotten your password you can get a new password sent to your E-mail address. Click on the link "Forgot your password?" on the start page and enter your E-mail address. A new password is sent to your E-mail address.
I want to access Chilirec from different locations. Is it possible?
Yes. You can connect to your Chilirec account via any computer that have access to the Internet. However it is important that you are registered. Go to "My Recorder" and fill in alias and password.
Player and Playlist
How does the Player work?
When you choose songs and double click on them, they will appear in the play list. You can add as many songs as you like. It is possible to play by random (shuffle) and to repeat the songs. You can skip a song by using the skip buttons. You can jump to another song by double clicking on it. If you right click on a song in the playlist you will get the choice remove the song from the playlist or clear the entire playlist.
How do I create my own playlist?
To create a playlist, add desired songs to the player. Then click the button "Save as" and name your playlist. The playlist is saved and can be accessed via the Navigator menu in the folder "My Playlists".
How do I remove a playlist?
Click on the playlist you want to remove in the Navigator in the directory ”My Playlists”. Right-click on the playlist and select "Remove playlist”.
How can I listen to an entire playlist?
Click on the playlist that you want to add to the Player, hold the mouse button and drag the playlist to the Player.
When I try to create a playlist some of the songs are not saved to the playlist. Why?
There is a limit for how many songs you may have in a playlist. The limit is 76 songs. In other words, if you try to save a playlist with more than 76 songs some of the songs will be removed.
I want to add songs from the list of search results to the player in an easy way. Is this possible without having to drag & drop each song?
Right click anywhere in the list of search results and select ”Add result to playlist”. All songs that are displayed in the list of search results will be added to the player.

Chilirec works exactly like a traditional recorder device, but it is virtual and the songs are saved in a personal Internet folder. You will start your personal recorder yourself. All the songs that you collect will be individually marked with recording time, radio channel and identity. If you save a personal copy on your local disk, you can right-click on it and select properties to view this information tag. Chilirec relies on an advanced technical patent pending solution for personal radio recording on Internet.
Is Chilirec file sharing?
No, not at all. We discourage any use of copyright protected material for example using sites, which are providing the users with illegal copies or streaming capabilities from sources without a proper license.
What is making specifically Chilirec legal to use?
Chilirec is built from an advanced technical patent pending solution for personal radio recording on the Internet. The company has worked together with legal experts during 2 years to build a product that follows copyright laws.
Navigator
What is "My Recorder"?
Here you will change your settings. You will be able to choose or change your alias and password, you can add or remove radio channels, you can stop the recording or if you want "destroy" you recorder.
How do you change size of components and columns?
To change to desired component and column size you can click and drag the respective edges of components and columns.
What is a top list?
A top list is a list of the most played songs in the world or for a specific genre.
Why can I only see a limited list of artists in the "Artists" directory in the "Navigator"?
The artists that are displayed are the currently most popular artists played on the radio.
Radio channels
Sometimes there's chat on the radio in the beginning and end of songs. Why isn't the songs ”perfect”?
Chilirec is a recorder that records radio channels exactly like they are broadcasted. In other words the respective radio channel decides how much ”radio chat” that exist in the song.
My recorder only found 350 radio channels and my favourite radio channel is not in the list. Why can't I select more radio channels?
Currently Chilirec is a beta version. When the product is commercially introduced it will be possible to add more radio channels.
Some of the radio channels that I have selected to record from won't record any music at all, why?
Sometimes the scanner can find radio channels that do not work or do not broadcast. We are working on improving the scanner so that these radio channels won't be scanned.
How do I change which radio channels to record?
In "My recorder" in the navigator there is a list with available radio channels. Here you can see which radio channels you are recording. You can also change which radio channels to record from by selecting the radio channels and clicking on "Save".
Beta version
What is wrong with my song counter? At some points I will have significantly less songs than before.
The song counter will show less songs at some points because duplicate songs are automatically removed from your personal Internet space with recorded songs. The song counter is not 100 % accurate but an approximate number of how many songs you have recorded. We are currently working on making the song counter as accurate as possible.
Sometimes the player does not work. I can not even access

Chilirec is a beta system and we are currently upgrading the system to be able to handle many users. Because of the upgrade the system may be down for short periods of time. If you try again later Chilirec should work fine.
Some of the songs play back too fast or too slow?
This problem occurs for certain songs from certain radio channels. In future versions this problem will be solved.
