| "Hence, my self-loathing" | Re: Penn & Teller Penn and Teller Rule. And that Flag Burn at the end is awesome. My personal view on Flag burning is pretty much the same as theirs. Do we need a law against flag burning in the USA? You want to burn a flag? Go ahead! The Flag is just a colored cloth. Manufactured as a symbol, a symbol, of America and our Freedoms. Burning the symbol will not destroy the principles of America, will not tarnish the reputation of America. It will just destroy a piece of cloth. The Ideals of America are deep within most of its people and its laws. Many veterans get angry by people burning the flag that they defended, that they watched friends and family die for. But that anger is misplaced, they fought and died for the Ideals of America, not for a piece of cloth. So to anyone that wishes to make a statement by burning a US Flag, go right ahead, we'll make more! |

| Mean Old Bastard | Re: Penn & Teller
The point they are making is not about flag burning in general, it's about legislating ones right to do so. I would prefer not see a flag burn and you will never see one started by myself. But making it illegal is wrong. |

| Brofessor | Re: Penn & Teller There's actually a proper way to burn a flag. The American Legion, and several other organizations, does it with all their used up flags when they start to wear down and need to get a new one. It's pretty ritualistic, do it while saluting and make sure it doesn't touch the ground. |
