| Amateur | His Girlfriend's Opion Hello Stoners, I am this stoner's girlfriend. Hola. Anyway here is my opinion on this whole government taking over bullshit. It's already in control. Yeah we're taught that this is "the people's country" what a load. Hanging and pregnant chads my ass. Let's mention the electoral college here, which we all know is obsolete due to current technology so why is it still functioning? Because that's one way of controlling us against our wills. Not that our wills matter. This past election the electronic voting systems were a perfect way to let Bush win. Computer glitch anyone? We all saw joke sites online making fun of it but sadly enough most comedy is based on some degree of truth. Police can pull you over for looking suspicious. There are cameras everywhere. Big brother is constantly around us. Germany still hides microphones all over the country. Who's to say that the U.S.A. isn't doing it too? How would any of us know? We citizens of the United States of America are insignificant. Bush is a frontman. To many (myself most definately not included), he is a "nice" family man, personable, easy going, amusingly slow, and a real down to earth guy. However it's not as though Bush is making all the decisions alone. Don't forget the many govenment officials, the vice president, heads of different military organizations, etc. They all make the decisions that effect our every day lives. Who knows. Maybe everything is already in place and they're just waiting for the opportune moment. We all live with the constant fear that that bombings that occured in London could happen in our country. The Supreme Court is being stacked, as well as the Senate. Let's not forget the concentration camps build during World War II to hold japanese immigrants and citizens of these the United States of America. Perhaps there is a series of new concentration camps for Arabs already in place within our country. Not that the United States would call them that, after all concentration camp is far too harsh a term for our country. Political Holding Camp would be much more diplomatic sounding. Anyway, the whole abortion thing, I'm completely for a woman's right to choose and I do not take forgranted that my foremothers spent their lives fighting for a woman's right to choose. I know that women died because of botched abortions and were scarred for life and sometimes killed for their convictions. In today's society though, I know that most women don't remember those facts and they're happy to be uneducated ditzy sorority girls. The point of my little rant is that I could stand with red tape covering my mouth all I want, I could protest until I was blue in the face and my legs were jelly, but it wouldn't matter. It's out of my hands. It's out of any of our hands. If the government reinstated the patriot acts and took full control, would it really be that different? Are we already constantly being watched, recorded, and suspected? Personally I'll just go with the flow, not too much else to do. I do live in fear of the govenment. I don't want to be accused of being a terrorist for something so insignificant like a thread on a stoner site, but I know I could be. It's sad that we live in a world that is so different than that which our founding fathers fought for. Ultimately dictatorship is almost unavoidable in modern society. I support our troops. Dedication so strong that someone would die for our country is inspiring no doubt. I don't have that courage so I admire that they do. Do I support the cause? I think there needs to be more evidence. Where are the weapons of mass destruction? Was Saddam wrong in what he did to the many families he persecuted? Yes. Should he be punished? Yes. Is it our right to take over their country and tell them how to run it? No. Are women's rights in Iraq being protected? No. In fact women were safer under Saddam's rule than they are now. In the August addition of Glamour magazine they do a spread about it. I haven't read it yet but I intend to. I've read multiple articles, and it saddens me, as a loyal American and as a woman. Ultimately I don't think there is anything I could do or can do. And honestly I don't think there is anyting I really want to do. The way I figure it, big brother is already in control. I've just accepted that. |

also, do you have any proof that woman are worse off now? on top of that, their own citizens are killing most of them , not us. To relate this to the cold war, this is like korea or vietnam. Its an ideaology war being fought out in iraq. Why are over half of the suspected terrorist we capture not from iraq? most with ties to other terrorist organizations. Originally Posted by maninthebox

| Amateur | Re: His Girlfriend's Opion His Girlfriend: He begged me to put my opinion on this forum. That's what I did. If you disagree with what I said then that's your opinion. As far as Glamour, pick the article up and read it. It's not about foo foo dresses I promise. It's not as though I limit myself to fashion magazines, I just heard it's a great article. Once again, it's my opinion. I think I shall return the computer to my dearly beloved. It's nice to see that you actually took the time to argue your points. I think you misinterpreted some of the things I said. I'm not going to bother with explaining which parts you misinterpreted as it would be a waste of both of our time. Either way it's nice to see that you're passionate in your opinions. We could sit here and argue all day long but that would just be silly for two intelligent people to argue on the internet. So while I respect your opinions, I expect the same from you. Let's be civil and agree to disagree. Thank you for your time. |

| Just Say Maybe | Re: His Girlfriend's Opion ^^^^ were you really expecting to start up political banter here and then not have to defend it? The day Gilligan lets a post like that slide without a comment is the day I actually put in my two cents (and Gill, please don't ever make me do that). |

| Amateur | Re: His Girlfriend's Opion The fact remains that no matter what you say, it's my opinion and I'm not changing it. You can argue all you want, but you're still wrong. And as far as letting bullshit slide who died and left you in charge of the 1st amendment. It's my opinion and I'm going to say it loud and proud. So if you want to rag on my opinion then rag on it but I'm not wasting any further energy on either of you. It's not like I haven't heard all about your freaking reputation, and how you can't let anything go. I have a friend like you, so I'm used to dealing with people like you. People who think they're vastly superior in their knowledge of everything and that the rest of the world is completely wrong because they don't agree with you on everything you say. I don't put up with his bull in real life so I'm most certainly not putting up with it on here. I've wasted enough time and energy on both of you. Normally I wouldn't even respond but my boyfriend won't get off of my back until I do. So there I responded. I get that you think you're right, but it's not your place or your job to try to edit how I think or what I post so I suggest that you don't do it. If you're going to be argumentative and whine, I'm not going to acknowledge your existance. Some people would rather THINK they're right than to get along with people. That's your choice not mine, don't try to force what you think on me because it won't work. ![]() |
